At Camp Billings we are proud that most of our staff come through our Counselor-in-Training program. At the end of each session, we always hear positive feedback from parents and campers about the role our CITs played in making sure their summers were fantastic. We are THRILLED that many of our second year CITs from last summer are moving up and joining the senior staff. Let’s hear some of their favorite camp memories, and what they are most excited about for summer 2018… and stay tuned until next week when we introduce some of our brand new staff!
Mattia Polemeni, Evening Program
“My favorite memory from when I was a CIT was when my cabin went all-out decorating for Christmas. Our cabin was decked head to toe in garlands, snowflakes, stockings by the fireside and even a Christmas tree! I had such a fun time turning our “home away from home” into a winter wonderland with my campers and we all felt like a little family during the holidays.
For this summer, I am most excited about creating new and exciting Evening Programs and re-vamping old classics! Evening Program was always my favorite part of the day as a camper and I can’t wait to make amazing memories with my campers!”
Josh Ryan, Fishing
“My favorite memory from my two years as a CIT is definitely watching three of my campers win TOH last summer (two current and one former). After having the privilege of mentoring them and building a strong bond, it was rewarding to see their efforts being acknowledged and praised in front of the whole camp. I was beyond proud of them and it was heart warming to see their genuine happiness and gracious nature when accepting the awards.
As Senior Staff I am excited to finally have the ability to flex my creativity during program. Whether that means making up cheers, or planning various activities, I am more than excited to be handed the ropes and given the opportunity to improve an aspect of camp.”
Nora Greeley, Funning Staff
“One of my favorite memories as a CIT was helping choreograph the dance for Battle of the Bands in Cabin 5 during my first year on staff (to The New Workout Plan by Kanye West). This summer I’m excited to teach funning lessons and just to spend time on Lake Fairlee in general!”
Dan Schwartz, Athletics
“My favorite memory of being a CIT was Row night last summer, and I am excited to be able to co-lead the Athletics program for the summer!”
Emma Schuszler, Funning Staff & Music
“My favorite memory of being a CIT has to be all of Glee! Not only did I get to co-captain with one of my best friends, MC, but the two of us were able to work with a small group of campers of all ages. We got to combine creativity and music, and put all of our energy into making each performance the best. It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! I’m excited to see what this summer holds, as I get to work with even more campers on music and in the water!”
Greta Roser, Crafts & Funning Staff
“One of my favorite memories from being a CIT was taking 1A on a cabin trip with cabin 1 to the cascades. What I’m most excited for about being on senior staff is getting to run my own program area!”
