Senior Counselor Responsibilities
Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper. The Counselor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills.

Operate specific program area during 4 hours of scheduled program time daily
- Occasionally special events will take the place of program time
- Create and lead program daily under the guidance of the Program Director
- Do not leave your program area unattended during program hours
- Post rules + regulations for all who attend the program
- Backpacking and Canoeing counselors are expected to run at least one junior day trip and one senior overnight trip per session.
- Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs/replacements needed promptly to camp directors.

Direct supervision of campers during cabin time, meals, roll call, camp duties, cabin cleanup, and bedtime
- Staff in cabins are responsible for the safety of campers overnight.
- Participate in and organize cabin cleanup each day
- Coordinate completion of camp duties each day
- Attend the needs of campers in regards to homesickness, bullying and other personalized situations.

Participate in “Row Duty” as dictated by Row Heads

Participation in and implementation of the whole camp Evening Program
- This may also include setup after taps

Every counselor will be given 2 hours off per afternoon depending on operating hours of program
- These hours may occasionally be unavailable in the event of inclement weather or emergencies and the need for added supervision

Assist the training of Counselors in Training (CITs) in how to operate a program and run a cabin.

Complete Cabin reports, bills, and Clocktower Times articles each session on time as implemented by office staff.

Communicate instances of bullying, severe homesickness, and other miscellaneous events to parents via phone call as necessary.

Follow all program, area, and camp rules and regulations.

Be present and active for all changeover activities, especially arrival/departure of their campers until every row in camp is deemed “all clear” by directors.

Additional responsibilities deemed necessary for operation of the camp program by the Administrative team.
Qualifications: (Minimum Education and Experience)
- Must be 18 years of age or high school graduate.
- Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR.
- Must submit a health history record and examination form prior to the first day of work.
- Ability to interact with all age levels.
- English Proficiency

- Understand the development needs of youth.
- Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in program areas designated camp program areas.
